Kabul´s Airport under attack

KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban fighters attacked a NATO base inside Kabul’s international airport early Monday, setting off a gun battle that was still going on more than two hours after it began.

The attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades into the base from a multi-story building outside the airport’s perimeter. Dozens of explosions could be heard in the area as NATO and Afghan security forces responded. NATO said that the attackers had not breached the wall that surrounds the base.

There was no word on NATO casualties. Afghan police said they’d killed several of the attackers, including one who’d been firing RPGs at the airport. Two others had been trapped in the building’s basement, according to a local government official.

NATO, citing Kabul police chief Gen. Mohammed Ayoub Salangi, reported that a police officer firing an RPG had destroyed an explosive-laden small truck that the attackers may have intended to use to blow their way into the air field.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack.

yeah. the Airfield attack...it happen few hours ago..but no one was killed among us
sure..it was a serious attack though.I know ..your prayers works for me..

Thank you for telling that you are Safe and Ok.. I read about the Airport attack and I got worried.. thinking that it´s close to where you are stationed.. and you might get call out to protect the Airport.
However sorry that I unintentionally made you so sad.. I think that you do you agree that there is a good understanding between us.. usually
But when its not then its often caused by language problems or cultural differences..?

Thank you.. now a few days ago I saw one of our most experienced and succesfull industrial leaders on Tv.. talking about international leadership.. and what caused problems at times..
it is lack of understanding/languages problems/cultural differences
it was so interesting.. he was refering to the differences in expressing themselves between the Brits and Americans
- the Brits whom Swedish Managing Drectors are most used to
they speak in long sentences using long words and never straight to the point
Americans are straight to the point, using short words and meanings
Do you understand?

yes - I did not know any Americans before - other than cheerful smiles and bone-crushing handshakes
I even was abit scared of them
and often I feel uneasy as you are so straight forward...
now I´m getting used to that.. and like it better
the Americans are fond of slogans also - the Brits talk in understatements
no wonder wonder one gets confused *lol*

except few of the americans though
I´m sure we can overcome the differences between us
